Creating Feature Spread

Image
Creating Feature Spread       When contemplating ideas for my feature spread I looked back at the magazine I analyzed in class and was inspired by this specific example. From here, I gathered my photos that I had taken and decided that the everglades photo shoot would be ideal for a feature spread since I can do a similar structure. The spread would be about spending a day at the national park while providing some background on the park. I t will also cover some tips and guides to inform readers on some activities that are available around the park. For this I had to do some research and I the following websites assisted with providing me with some information. https://www.jungleervairboatworld.com/everglades-airboat-ride-checklist/ https://theculturetrip.com/north-america/usa/florida/articles/8-things-to-do-in-everglades-national-park-in-miami-fl/ https://www.nps.gov/ever/index.htm After creating my sketch I implemented my pictures and the information I collected from

Creating my cover

When is came to designing my cover, I glanced back at my previous blogs to combine all elements that I wanted to include in my magazine. This included the content, images and structure.     The structure is quite similar to the magazine I analyzed in class (Mother Earth Living) which provided an clean and simple structure. I still had to play with font, but it was just a rough planning of my ideas. My next step was to write down all my text so I could continue to start placing them around to a placement that would suit the magazine. I utilized the "Herb-Infused Honeys" issue of Mother Earth Living to structure and organize my texts and image. My main image takes over the full page. It interferes a bit more with the text than Mother Earth Living to highlight the significance of the image. My magazine follows its similar subheadings, however my text with the articles that are included inside the magazine are at the bottom left to not disrupt the image.

Because of this, i'm going to be adjusting this with the Photoshop program so all pictures come together and compliment each other before starting to place them into the actual magazine.      For the cover I decided that I would make the picture of the teeth model and aloe the main image. The original picture had the background full of leaves and it wo

Magazine Font

Choosing Magazine Font         When it came to choosing my fonts, I had to do some research. On the website www.indesignskills.com I found some useful tips.      Since my main article is "Dental Herbalism", I knew it would have to be a sophisticated font to fit this medical theme. They advised to utilize the "Bodoni" font; however, I was able to find the "Bodoni MT" font and it was a perfect fit.           For my magazine's title, Nature's Boon I wanted a bold text because I wanted the name to stand out with the main image in the background. Since the main image is taking over the whole cover, it is essential for the title to be in a bolder text. This will also be useful for the audience to identify the magazine instantly from the eye-catching letters. On the website https://justcreative.com I found the font "Garamond" in the article, "Top 7 Fonts Used By Professionals In Graphic Design".

Photoshoot Pictures and Reflection

Photo Shoot Reflection               In order to gather all pictures for my magazine, I held several photo shoots because the locations were quite different. Since I wanted to have natural, bright lighting in my shots, I have to wait on the correct day and sometimes the clouds would block the sunlight, therefore, spreading the shoots out worked well for me.               Living in Miami, opportunities to take pictures were everywhere so I took my friend with his IPhoneX to take pictures at a great moment. We to the pedestrian road, "Lincoln Road", where they were holding a gathering of people who set up tents to sell natural smoothies, vegetables and other natural and organic products. Here, we found a local company that sold herbs and spices. I put the camera in portrait mode to have a focus pull effect, having this shallow depth of field.      The next set of  pictures were taken with the idea of Herbal dentistry in mind.  I
