Contemplating Content Ideas
Background on Developing Content Ideas
Now that I have finalized my analysis on "Mother Earth Living" and gained a strong sense of how they designed it to their specific style, I will reflect on them and also contemplate some content ideas for my articles to come up with a sort of structure of my own. Furthermore, I want this specific issue to have an overall theme or idea to base the articles on- it may be some sort of special edition focusing on one specific aspect of how natural substances from our earth serve us good. When contemplating ideas for the magazine I will be developing, I instantly knew that I wanted to cover the role of herbs and nature in the field of medicine. This was also influenced by my mother, who works in a dental office. We were discussing the different fields within dentistry. She told me there was a branch of dentistry where herbs are used to substitute other dental treatments and the two elements of nature and medicine combining seemed like an interesting combination to me. I went on to search other way that nature fuses with medicine and found that this topic is significantly broad and rich with options of information to include in my magazine; therefore I decided to create a special edition issue that covers this aspect.
(This is one of the Google searches I made when I discovered some of these plants and herbs with medicinal values in the U.S National Library of Medicine.)
When previously analyzing the magazine "Mother Earth Living", I had subscribed
to their online newsletter, where they sent me an email that would further inspire me to pursue this idea of focusing on medicinal benefits of nature. The email had an advertisement for this "Dental Herbalism" book, which had officially confirmed that this branch of medicine was an idea to elaborate on.
Even though the idea of the specific herbs interest me, I would also like to have a broad audience so I'd like to add a historic element to my magazine by not simply addressing the plants but perhaps their history as well. I have found This adds a sort of background story about a location outside of the U.S. This could serve to broaden my audience and add an appeal to those who enjoy tips and knowledge on nature's benefits, as well as education on how they surfaced and how they are applied in different part of the world.

I know that I would like to explore these ideas further so I did research for inspiration on other articles I could potentially include in my magazine. Taking advantage of international foods with benefiting ingredients. Food may also fuse with the health benefits. In fact, an article on www.drweil.com where it is shown that the spice, turmeric, can be significantly helpful. They go on to support its importance by highlighting that many indians intake curry with tumeric everyday and this is one of the reasons they have one of the lowest Alzheimer's rate on a global scale. This, again provides informational facts, while adding cultural elements; this is a style I will incorporate into my articles and themes of my magazine issue.
After visiting www.theherbalacademy.com, in search of the used of herbal medicine in history, I discovered that the first record of plants being used for medical purposes was found on an egyptian clay tablet called the "Ebers papyrus". This ancient document from over 5000 year ago and includes more that 850 plant and herb centered medicines. I find this aspect of history very amazing and could be an interesting idea to include in my magazine, adding variety in my articles and infusing interesting narratives for my readers.

After doing this research on this specific branch in the health and medical field, I gained a very lucid idea of the type of content I would like to include in my very own "Nature's Boon". I will look back onto my finding and organize my ideas better on the front cover and table of contents to generate this special edition issue covering these specific ideas of natural remedies.
